Dough disco

In Early years, we encourage & develop prewriting skills through many different activities.

Dough disco is a favourite of ours at Granby Wickersley. The children enjoy this fun fine muscle exercise – together with music and dough, the children mould the playdough in time to the music and carry out movements which work the shoulders, elbow, wrist & fingers by: rolling it into a ball, squeezing it, stretching, patting, prodding, poking & pressing it.

These exercises allow the fingers to improve fine motor control and gross motor skills as we need strong muscles in our hands to allow us to write effectively and improve our pencil grip.

It also develops hand eye coordination, grip & self-esteem & helps give your child the skills that they need to become happy and successful writers.

Give it a go- its lots of fun!
